Focus Scan (ID Attendance Scanner) — End User License Agreement
Grant of license
This agreement is between you (the teacher or school that purchased an activation key) and John Place (“Licensor”), the owner of Focus Scan / ID Attendance Scanner (the “Software”). It is written in plain language for classroom use. It is not legal advice. Subject to this agreement and a valid, paid activation key, Licensor grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Software for classroom attendance at your school during the license term. The Software is licensed, not sold.
One-year term
Each license is valid for one (1) year from the issue date. When the term ends, copies that require a key will stop working until you purchase a new license or a paid renewal is applied. There is no automatic renewal.
Computers and seats
An individual teacher license may be used on one computer. If you replace that computer, contact the Licensor so the old computer can be unbound. School licenses are sold as packs of 25, 50, or 100 computers. Each seat is one computer. Larger counts and district purchases are quoted as an organization record plus one or more school keys with seat counts and annual expiry.
Activation and student privacy
Activation sends only your license key and an anonymous computer identifier to the license server. Student names, student IDs, attendance records, and other student personally identifiable information are never sent to the license server and are not stored by the Licensor. Roster matching and settings stay on the teacher’s computer.
Ownership
John Place retains all ownership, copyright, and title in the Software. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, reverse engineer, or redistribute the Software except as allowed by the Licensor for a paid copy you purchased.
Classroom use, including Florida
The Software is intended for teacher use in a classroom, including schools in Florida. You are responsible for following your school and district policies. The Software only marks attendance on the website you already use. It does not replace your official attendance system and does not press Save for you.
Disclaimer and liability
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. Classroom attendance remains your professional responsibility. Always review the roster before you save in your official system. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Licensor is not liable for lost attendance data or other damages arising from use of the Software.
